Recap of 2008 Season

1. Old Business
A. Success of last season: lots of divers, more than any other year,
many records were broken.

B. Rule Changes
i. If a diver is in set position and their coach verbally interjects, it
is considered a balk. For 8 & U divers, give leniency, sometimes they need
extra attention. 8 & U divers count as points just like other age groups.
This rule was a trial for 2008 and has been voted to continue.

ii. D.D. for front and back jumps shall change from 1.0 to .8. Divers
made improvements by being pushed to learn flips due to this rule. Coaches
also worked very hard in encouraging and preparing the kids. Some people feel
that kids did not spend enough time learning proper jumps. (Yolanda mentioned
that East Gate started a Jump Club….0.8 is Great!
This rule was also trial for 2008 and has been voted to continue.

iii. Discontinued meet due to bad weather. This rule worked perfectly.
This rule was a trial for 2008 (and 2007) and has been voted to continue.

iv. Divisional Meet Assignments. (Robin Hood Invitation was a lot of work,
and may need more help with organization.) Positions in the divisional meet
were unknown to certain people. Meet Secretary needs to ensure that volunteers
can do all their jobs and duties at the table. Meet Secretary also needs to
bring supplies, cards, and books. At Old Farm, Denise Collins holds a Tablework
Wine and Cheese, where everyone learns table work jobs and duties.

v. If there is an idea for a rule change, use the form on the MCDL website.

2. New Business
A. Division Re-alignment Proposal: 4 Divisions. See Chart.
i. Div. 1, 2, and 3 will have 5 meets.
ii. Div 4.…1st two team will have 5 meets. All other teams will have 4 meets.
iii. There will be 4 Divisions so that divers have more chances for competition.
iv. There will be only 4 Divisional Meets, which means more divers at each meet.
To qualify for Divisionals, diver must attend 2 meets.
v. The top 4 divers from Divisionals will be qualified to attend All Stars.
vi. Steve Schrier There are questions about Div 4 divers and how many will they
qualify for Divisionals…2 meets instead of 3 meets. There are also questions
about All-Stars qualifications…top 4 divers from Divisionals.
vii. Rules need to be outlined before approval. Further discussion via email will
be required. Steve Schrier will lead this discussion.
