President John Currie brought the meeting to order. He thanked
the Reps and Board members for a great summer of flexibility and
fun. He later presented two proposals for the summer of 2002. The
schedule, as well as the seeding, for the upcoming summer of 2002
was discussed, voted on and approved. So check the website and plan
your summer ahead. To record, this is a first for having a schedule
and seeding chart in place and approved after the fall meeting!
THANK YOU JOHN!
Vice-President, Al Goins, shared with everyone some of his
concerns about the way insurance fees and rosters are not given
to him in a timely fashion and possible ways to make the process
better for everyone. He reminded us all that he is responsible
for the diver's insurance and he takes his job to heart. Look for
possible new procedures that might be presented at the spring meeting!
Ideas? Let him know!
Lynn Chapman, MCDL Treasurer, gave the best and shortest report
of the evening when she said the bills were paid and we had a
whopping $XXXX in our account to carry over to next year.
Our Publicity and Records Man, Karl Borst, received accolades
after presenting some ideas for the website and asking for
ideas from the Reps. He agreed to increase the size of the
blank for the score on the Meet Participant Sheet. He agreed
to make a site on the web where members can share forms that
might help the bookkeeping situation. Any ideas or forms send
to Karl! (As a finished product)
Next came the rules committee, Sassie Bridges and Lori Puente.
Each attending member received some ideas to think about during
the winter months that could help the rules committee. Foremost,
the rules in the handbook will be enforced. If there is a rule we
can't live with, please present a proposal for change prior to the
January meeting of the board of directors. The deadline for any
rules change submissions is January 1, 2002. Changes can be submitted
to Lori, Sassie, or via email to the addresses provided on the website.
Bill Leith, MCDL Safety Committee, reported that there were no
serious accidents over the course of the last summer. The 2002
summer will be the last year that we can inspect our own boards.
During the spring of 2003, a committee set up by the league will
inspect the boards and they must meet the requirements of the MCDL.
Questions? Contact Bill Leith!
Renee Moloznik, Ways and Means, reviewed her duties and handed
them over to her replacement, Melissa Huey-Burns. However,
before stepping down she reminded everyone that ALL DIVERS SHOULD
RECEIVE A RIBBON if they participate in a dual meet! That is why
the board went to the expense to buy the ribbons for all participants!
Please, use the ribbons and include all divers. (Suggestion: put all
possible info on the back of the ribbon prior to the meet in the cool
of your home or go to the MCDL Website and see if the labels templates
have been made available.)

Finally, now that all of the season's information has been made
available so far in advance, we implore the reps to send this to
team members prior to the winter holidays so that our schedule can
be taken into account when planning for summer camp and family
vacations. We have worked hard to make sure that there are no
conflicts with the swim teams. Be sure to share the schedule with
your swim team representative as well as they will need to schedule
Relay Carnivals in the spring.
