MINUTES OF THE MAY 20, 2003 MEETING

Opening and Officers Reports

I. Board Reports

A. President
John Currie opened the meeting at 7:40pm.

B. Vice President
Al Goins was not in attendance.

1. John Currie reviewed insurance and page 5 in handbook
$10/diver cost is the same,
$10 fee to try diving and permission slips/waiver.

C. Treasurer
Lynn Chapman said we have $#,### in our MCDL account
1. We have already paid a deposit on ribbons and visors.

D. Secretary
Nancy Ale said the minutes from the last meeting are on the web site.

E. Records and Publicity
Karl Borst deferred his report to New Business and the distribution of supplies.

F. Rules
Lori Puente
1. New rules are posted in the front of the handbook
2. Lori asked reps to call her if they find any problems
3. John Currie will check on wording about doing dives not on the back of the handbook

G. Safety
Bill Leith
1. Bill will mail reports to pool reps from last year safety
checks if they do not have copies of them
2. Bill York is willing to do a clinic for board maintenance,
someone will contact Bill to set this up.
3. Duraflex has a web site with all the information on how to
care for and maintain the boards.
4. East Gate is representative of old and new boards, therefore
the clinic will be there.

H. Ways and Means
Wendy Hamm
1. All the ribbons are here
2. Contact Wendy if you think you will run out of participation ribbons.
3. Making labels for the ribbons before the meet using Microsoft was suggested
4. Visors saying “MCDL diver” will be sold for $12 each.
5. Each pool will get 2 visors and an order form. Call Wendy with
orders. Make checks out to your pool or dive rep and only send one check to MCDL.
6. Karl will make a link on our web site to Cincinnati Dive Club
to purchase score cards and slide rulers.

II. Old Business

A. Scheduling 5th meet
1. Divisions 2-5 can schedule a meet with another team out
of their division on BYE week - Just go across to same seed

B. Clinic Dates/Certification
1. Certification is good for 3 years- check your name on the
web site to see when you have to renew
2. Officials Clinics Dates page 7 in handbook. Sunday June 8, 15
and Thursday 26. The Thursday clinic won’t cover any table work
3. Coaches Clinic June 21 @ East Gate – Gary King will work with
Karl and Lori. They will all work with John Currie to make and outline
4. All coaches should attend and at least one from each pool

III. New Business

A. Coaches clinic June 21

B. Division Rep needed for division 4

C. Sites for Divisional Meets
1. Division I Tanterra
2. Division III Seven Locks
3. Division IV Palisades

D. 2003 Rule Changes
1. 8 & Under participation ribbons, it was suggested to hand out ribbons in dive order
2. The rest of the rule changes are on page 6 in the handbook
3. John Currie explained the clarification of two failed dives
(Rule change G) if a diver skips a dive. Also if a diver dives up in
age group they may not omit a dive.

E. Karl gave a presentation of the web site
1. Meet result sheets – one for Karl and one for each team
2. Meet participant forms
3. Results submitted quickly to Karl
4. Pictures for the web site
5. What is New on the Website
Karl went through adding a diver to the roster on the web site screen by screen
He also showed different ways to print out the calendar
6. Tell us- E-Mail the board
7. Privacy policy
8. Karl asked for feedback on web site

F. John asked that everyone consider nominations for the Board for the Sept meeting.

G. Distribution of boxes to pool reps
