MONTGOMERY COUNTY DIVING LEAGUE
MINUTES OF THE MAY 15, 2001 MEETING

Opening and Officers' Reports

A. President John Currie opened the meeting by welcoming the Board
of Directors and team reps.

B. Vice President - John Currie reported for Al Goins that our
insurance charges will remain the same as last year - $7.00 per
diver. The first deadline for submission of rosters is June 8, with
the final deadline June 22 (although late registrations will be accepted).

C. Secretary Judy Termini called attention to next year's meeting
schedule and locations listed on the agenda.

D. Treasurer Lynn Chapman reported that all dues have been received.

E. Publicity and Records - Karl Borst described the contents of the
boxes distributed to reps and division directors, and addressed the
following topics:

1. meet results - should be submitted on the MCDL website form as
well as on paper. He asked for feedback on this and all forms.

2. publicity - he has spoken to the three local newspapers and hopes
for good coverage.
There was some concern expressed about unlimited access to the forms
online, and Karl noted that he can limit access if a problem arises.

F. Rules - Sassie Bridges called attention to three rules changes
described on p. 6 of the new handbook: the revised wild card system,
meet format, and arms above the head in a feet-first entry.

G. Safety - Bill Leith noted that safety inspection forms are included
in the boxes for reps. He and John Currie will inspect the two new pools;
all other inspections should be completed by pool managers and reps.

H. Ways and Means - Renee Moloznik noted two changes in this year's
ribbons: there are enough ribbons for two and one-half meets each, so
for the fifth meet teams will share ribbons; and there are no more
separate ribbons for 8 & unders - they will use rainbow participant ribbons.

Old Business

A. An updated list of email addresses was circulated for corrections.

B. Any teams who want to schedule bye-week meets should email John.
He'll send the information on to the other teams with the same open dates.

New Business

A. Supplies - reps were asked to deliver boxes to anyone not present.

B. Reporting results - Karl covered the new instructions.

C. Rule re: qualifying for Divisionals - since John received only three
responses to his email asking about the minimum number of meets needed
for a diver to qualify for Divisionals, the Board recommends that teams
who have problems with this contact the other teams in the division to
reschedule meets, remembering our built-in make-up dates.

D. Division Coordinators:
Div. I: Lori Puente
Div. II: Renee Moloznik and Judy Termini
Div. III: John Currie
Div. IV: Terry Martin
Div. V: Maryann Yoo

E. Officials Clinics - certification is good for three years. If people
who were certified last year want to attend again this year, they will be
re-certified for three years beginning now. The list of certified officials
is on the MCDL website. Although coaches are welcome to attend the clinics,
the Board requests that coaches NOT judge in meets.

F. MDC is sponsoring a coaches clinic on June 2. The registration form can
be downloaded from the USDiving website.

Respectfully submitted,

Judy Termini, Secretary
